Another using my new backgrounds, this one is for Paula's weekly 3d challenge, Exploration. I even wrote a lil blurb to go along with the picture, and lord am I rusty
As Sir Edward crept along the shadowed corridors, the hair on the back of his neck stood on end. Every nerve ending seemed to tingle, yet still he pressed on, intent upon finding the treasure left behind by some long dead sorcerer. Surely any magical wards would have faded by now, and all the rumors of glowing lights and eerie sounds emanating from the surrounding area were just that, rumors. It never took much to mystify the common folk.
When he finally made it deep within the bowels of the dungeon, he was surprised to see sort of glowing fog rising from twin chalices on either side of a chest. Needless to say, he began to wonder if perhaps the rumors held at least a hint of truth. He placed his torch in a nearby holder, gripping his ax a bit tighter and drawing his blade as well. The closer he stepped, the brighter the fog seemed to glow.
That niggling feeling in his gut that told him he had been a fool to come alone turned into a cold, tight knot. From behind him, a slight shift in pressure alerted him that someone, or something, was coming. A dense fog, that seemed much the same as that pouring from the silver chalices, crept closer from the way he had come. Turning to face his adversary, the young adventurer kept his cool and waited, hoping something with a bit more substance would show up for the fight.
